Castello Di Volpaia Citto Tosacana Rosso IGT
A harmonious blend of mostly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon from Volpaia’s organically farmed estate vineyards in Chianti Classico and Maremma. Citto highlights the qualities of both regions in splendid fashion. Bright with classic Tuscan notes of sour cherry and wild herbs upfront. Medium bodied and sleek with radiant red fruits and a taut core of fine tannins and racy minerals. A good swirl, another whiff and a second sip, a deeper richer wine lies beneath. There’s aplenty of ripe black cherry from that sunny Maremma Cabernet, and delicious Victoria plum and wild raspberry fruits that shine pure with no oak used for fermentation or ageing.

The Castello di Volpaia was built in the 11th century as a fortified village on the Florence/Siena border. Although only part of the original protective walls and two of its six towers are still standing, the medieval layout and buildings within the village are still intact, making Volpaia undoubtedly one of the best preserved villages of its period.
